Birthday parties everywhere…

"My policy on cake is pro having it and pro eating it."
-Boris Johnson

This was a week of birthdays, starting with James’ actual birthday on Thursday.  He was excited when he woke up and kept trying to convince us that it was time to go downstairs.  When we consented he barreled down the stairs and around the corner to open his presents.  We had enough time to play with the new toys for a bit before it was time to head out to the aquarium which is what James chose to do for his birthday.

The aquarium itself was a lot of fun for the kids.  They were able to watch the fish get fed and got to see the rooms in the back where they incubate the fish and prepare the food.  Isla was fascinated by all the fish and kept trying to touch them.  We took a break around noon to go eat at the Rainforest CafĂ© but they wanted to go back to the aquarium right after.  And of course we had to take a train ride and get a cookie, it wouldn’t be a birthday without it for James.

We’ll break here for a quick water balloon fight.  Because hey, why not?

James’ birthday party was the following Saturday and he a had a blast.  I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, but I do want to say thanks to everyone who made it a great day for James.  Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Grandpa too!

Because two birthday celebrations wasn’t enough we to a friend’s birthday party on Sunday at the Little Gym in Southlake.  The folks there did a great job at wearing the kids out.  We were able to put them to bed a little early this evening to start the post-birthday recovery process.

Happy Father’s Day!

"Fatherhood is great because you can ruin someone from scratch."
-Jon Stewart

Isla continues to pull herself up on anything stable enough to hold on to.  Given how underfoot she likes to be and how much she enjoys digging into anything she can reach I’m now altogether excited about having her learn to walk.

Father’s Day weekend started at hour house with the Wolfe clan coming over.  We had steaks, swinging, and smiles.  The kids did a good deed by helping take dinner and desserts to the neighbors and Robo-Grandma chased the kids around the house to squeals of laughter.

Father’s Day round 2 took place at Nina and Papas house where the kids got to show off their swimming skills for everyone.  Interestingly, I didn’t get a single pictures of the actual fathers.

Father’s Day #3 was back at our house with breakfast with PePa.  The kids got to play with my new RC car and Isla crawled around looking cute in the grass.

Lots of pictures were taken even though few of them were of the weekend’s honorees.  That won’t stop me from saying thanks to all the Dads out there.  We love ya.
