More fun with Valentine’s…

"Remember, your Valentine’s card shows you care enough to send the very best, even though you’re too lazy to put it in your own words."
-Melanie White

We didn’t have all the pictures from Valentine’s last week so this may feel a week late.  James’ class sang a Valentine’s song for some of the other classes and James was thrilled to participate.  By “thrilled” I mean “not excited at all”.  But he still smiled through it, even if he didn’t enjoy it.

And what Valentine’s Day would be complete without forcing the kids to take pictures before giving them stuffed animals?

We took James and Isla to a Mexican restaurant while Ashlyn was at a friends house.  They enjoyed the meal but mostly tried to hide from the air conditioning.

Isla went with Mommy to the library and store on Friday and she had fun at both as always.  The librarian gave Isla a bunny bear and Mommy gave Isla a box at the store.  This was great fun for Isla, and it’s nice to know she’s still easily entertained.

Breakfast and gardening…

"Am I going to get my hug now or what?"
-Isla

We went to a friends house after school on Friday.  While the adults chatted, the kids ran around the house playing games.  It did not have the desired effect of a quick bedtime, it just got them riled up for the rest of the evening.  They had fun though, so it was worth it.

The older girls decided to have a sleepover and when they all came back to our house the next day they volunteered to cook breakfast for dinner.  We agreed, and despite the mess they made a good breakfast.  Eggs any way you wanted them, toast with either cinnamon or jelly on it, and miniature pancakes.  They should have sleepovers more often.

Spring is fast approaching which means it’s time to start the planting.  The kids planted a large assortment of vegetables and flowers in the garden under close supervision by Sadie and Nala.

Football games and Valentine’s Day decorations…

"Cats are intended to teach us that not everything in nature has a purpose."
―Garrison Keillor

The Super Bowl was last weekend but we got home late and didn’t put the pictures on the blog.  Here are a few pictures of the kids enjoying doing anything other than actually watching the Super Bowl.  They had fun with their friends though, and that’s what matters.

Isla wanted to go for a walk around the pond, and this time Nala decided to tag along.  Nala walked with Isla all the way and even played with her a bit at the back of the pond area.  Silly cat.

With Valentines coming up next week the kids needed to decorate their boxes.  We made it a small party with some of the other kids in their school.  Ashlyn chose to make hers look like a puppy, James went with a Minecraft Creeper.  Nothing says love like Corgi’s and exploding zombies, right?

Winter is nearing it’s end and it’s time to start prepping the garden.  James helped rake and Isla planted peas.  Then Isla posed for pictures with Nala, because why not?

Stuffed animals and a fun run…

Daddy:  "Hey Isla, want to know a secret?  You're a cutie patootie"
Isla:  "Everybody knows that"

Isla was upstairs with Mommy and wanted to have her picture taken with some stuffed animals.  When she went downstairs, she wanted me to take her pictures with the same three stuffed animals.  We didn’t realize Isla asked both of us to do it until we were gathering things together for the weekly blogpost.  She even had similar poses for each photo shoot.

This week was the annual Apex fun run.  Ashlyn ran 51 laps to help raise money for the school and then celebrated with her friends.

James also participated with his class and ran 52 laps.  All the running in soccer practice is paying off.  We’re proud of both of the kids who ran hard and didn’t quit when they started getting tired.
