Our house has officially been declared a disaster area after Christmas as the toys and games spread across the house. We eventually got things under control around New Years which is good because the pets couldn’t find spots to lay down on.
Potty training is one of those things that makes you really feel like a parent. If someone had told me that I would be excited about something smelly going into a plastic toilet I would have told them they were crazy. But we were excited this week, and James enjoyed his celebratory ice cream.
Aunt Tracy gave the kids a science experiment for Christmas and it was just what we needed on a cold rainy day. We weren’t sure what the result would be but the kids got a kick out of it when the liquids combined to form goo. Parents are teachers first and foremost so Mom stepped in to show the kids various ways the goo could be used.
Isla is getting less and less fussy in general as she gets older but she’s also very attached to Mom and Dad. She’ll get pouty with me sometimes too (see top left picture for her pouty face) so I should really say that she’s attached to Mom and tolerates me. But more than anything, she likes her feet.
This is just a great picture of the two sisters. Some things don’t need a story.
A group of our friends got together after New Years so we had around 30 people (half of them kids) in our house this weekend. The children had a blast and didn’t go to bed until almost 10 which is a new record for them.
You may have noticed I haven’t mentioned how we celebrated the new coming of 2015 in the post right after the 1st. That’s because we didn’t. I think we were up at midnight, but not watching the ball and certainly not toasting with champagne. And that’s ok, there are more important things in the world than parties and who wouldn’t want to ring in the new year listening to a baby?
