Two weeks of fun…

“Other things may change us, but we start and end with family”
-Anthony Brandt

I’ve been sick and have some time to make up for with the blog.  Let’s get going.

Grandma Wolfe once made a prediction:  “No James” will become a popular saying in our house.  Well thank you very much Nostradamus, you’ll be happy to know that your prediction has come true.  This kid is everywhere.  To give you an idea, an e-mail this past week from Mom read:  “In the five minutes it took me getting Ashlyn ready this morning, James got his hands on a provided toy, his socks, Ashlyn’s pillow, a provided stuffed animal, Ashlyn’s hair, my phone, Ashlyn’s pants, a rolled up dirty diaper, the previously provided toy, the box of wipes, the corner of a drawer, and a used tissue”.  Don’t believe her?  Maybe this will help:

He’s also graduated to sitting up in the bathtub.  This is both good and bad.  It’s good in that the old baby tub thing (see in the background below) was kind of a pain to use.  It’s bad in the sense that when James takes a bath, so does everything else in the bathroom.

Now it’s time to move to family related events.  Last weekend marked one of the rare occurrences where all the family was in town.  We took the opportunity to gather at Nina and Papa’s house for some good old fashioned family fun.  Ashlyn helped make a cake, and then later did some exercises to work off the extra calories.  James and Ben lounged around on a blanket with Loki and of course we had to gather for a group picture with the new addition to the family: Lilly.  It was nice having everyone together and we’re hoping it will happen more often now that both Uncle John and Uncle Scott are back in the states.

Continuing with the family theme, PePa came over the next day for breakfast.  Little did he know that this would end up with him carrying James around and playing dolls with Ashlyn.  He was a good sport and didn’t seem to mind.  He also seemed to enjoy playing with the dolls so much that we have a few ideas for next Christmas.

Speaking of Dr. Seuss (yes, I know I didn’t actually mention Dr. Seuss, but I couldn’t think of a good lead-in), last weekend was his birthday.  Mom took Ashlyn out to the Bedford library for a Dr. Seuss birthday party while James and I stayed at home for some male bonding time which primarily consisted of me following him around the house saying “No James”.  Ashlyn and Mom both had a fun time eating snow cones and playing with balloons.

And finally, James has reached another milestone and is now pulling himself up to a standing position!  This is a great news as it gives us even more things to worry about him getting his hands on.  We had just finished getting used to moving anything within arms reach of the floor, and I think James wanted to keep us guessing.

Well, that’s it for this week.  I’d type more but I need to stop James before he pulls out the computer pow
