Stomach bugs and house destruction…

"'Tis healthy to be sick sometimes."
-Henry David Thoreau

Author’s note:  A stomach bug has been making it’s way around and it found it’s way to the Flinn household this weekend.  Ashlyn got it Friday evening, Mom on Saturday, and me on Sunday.  Unlike Ashlyn, who was sick multiple times Friday evening and still able to be completely over it on Saturday morning, we were not.  So this week’s blog post is a day late and a little short on pictures.  But here’s what I have.

First, bad things happen when parents are stuck on the bed/couch.  Cups found their way around the house and an innocent bag of coffee filters ended up, well, everywhere.  I suppose I should be thankful that the kids entertained themselves, but James is still too young to leave unattended so rest was not as abundant as we would have liked.

Fortunately only one parent was sick on Saturday so we were able to go to a local picnic for some hot dogs.  The Bedford Fire Department was there with one of their fire trucks and Ashlyn got to sit in the back seat and look around.  James got to much on hot dog buns and get a lot of “awww"’s from the neighborhood moms.

And finally, James has learned his first sign:  “milk”.  It’s hard to see this in the picture below, but James will now crawl across the floor, stand up next to Mom, and make the sign for milk when he’s hungry.  This is the first step in a long journey to real communication.
