"Next to jazz music, there is nothing that lifts the spirit and strengthens the soul more than a good bowl of chili."
-Henry James
There was a fascination with boxes this week. If the kids could sit or stand in them, they did. I would love to say that no major messes were caused by this activity. I would love to, but I can’t.
As spring nears we decided the kids should be out of the house as much as possible. There’s less destroyed that way. So to help with this mission we ordered an outdoor play set and started to put it together this weekend. It will probably take another weekend to get it fully assembled, maybe two with James helping. Building things with Dad is a time honored tradition, and I can’t wait until he’s older and can handle tools better. I see a big trip to Harbor Freight in the future.
This week was the annual Chili Cook-Off at work, and James was eager to taste my entry into the competition. The pictures below represent the six step process to James tasting the chili:
- Curiosity
- The taste
- Hey, that’s good!
- Wait, what’s that feeling?
- It’s on my tongue!
- It burns!
It’s ok. After a quick bath, Dr. Ashlyn declared James was going to be fine. That was a close one.
