Snow and curling…

"In snow thou comest --
Thou shalt go with the resuming ground,
The sweet derision of the crow,
And Glee's advancing sound."
-Emily Dickinson

We don’t see snow in Texas very often.  And let’s face it, that’s one of the reasons why we live in Texas.  When the snow does come however it’s a time to run outside and play in it.  That’s exactly what Ashlyn did, she took advantage of the rare opportunity to stomp around in the Texas blizzard that left .15 inches of snow on the driveway.

James did not care for the snow.  He refused to put on gloves and hat and instead chose to relax indoors.

Because this is the great state of Texas, we also had really nice weather this week.  Outside, Ashlyn decided it would be fun to start doing front flips and handstands on the trampoline.  This is not something learned at gymnastics, she started doing it on her own.  Crazy child.

Back inside James was inspired by the 2014 Olympics in Sochi and and started up an impromptu game of curling.  This game did not last very long since Ashlyn refused to sweep in front of the curling stone (also known as the “boo boo bunny”).

Even though Ashlyn wouldn’t support James in his dreams of attending the 2030 Olympic Games, she still played the part of the big sister and played with James around the rest of the house.
