"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."
-Dr. Seuss
Tummy time and babies don’t always go hand in hand, and Isla isn’t the exception to that rule. Still, every now and then she’ll let us lay her on her stomach and not scream at us for doing so.
Texas’ annual snow/ice storm hit this week and so the kids were home multiple days with nothing to do but tear the house apart. Luckily the novelty of snow on the ground was enough to get the kids out of the house for a few minutes at a time. The first day we didn’t have very much snow, mostly just a dusting on the ground.
It was still awfully cold though and the kids had to warm up by the fire between forays into the backyard.
Even Isla got in on the action. It was too cold to take her out to the snow but that didn’t stop us from bringing the snow to her. She didn’t know what to think about it, she’d never felt something that cold before. It didn’t stop her from smiling though.
That evening the kids warmed up with a bath and with Isla able to sit it was one of the first times we’ve had all three kids in the bath at the same time. Isla splashed and grinned, Ashlyn decided to drink water with Nala for some reason, and James got water on everything but himself.
It snowed again, this time for real, and the kids once again bundled up and made their way outside to enjoy the rarity of snow being on the ground in Texas.
We took a break to make “snow cream”, which is essentially a quick ice cream made from snow. We washed that down with some hot cocoa and joined Mommy for a nap on the carpet in the living room. Nobody napped.
Aunt Tracy’s birthday was this weekend so we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Wolfe’s house Saturday evening for dinner and to celebrate. Ashlyn was excited to give Aunt Tracy some crafts that she made for in the afternoon and James was happy to run around crunching the ice in the backyard.
Dr. Seuss is also celebrating his birthday this weekend and the Bedford library threw a party for him. The kids enjoyed balloon animals, face painting, cake, and being allowed to make noise in the library for once.
Happy birthday Aunt Tracy and Dr. Seuss!
