"If you fell down yesterday, stand up today."
-H. G. Wells
As much as we would like to keep Isla in a crawling state, she had decided to see things from a higher elevation. She’s pulling herself up on anything she can get her hands on whether it be a stack of coke cans or a laundry basket. She may take her first steps before her first birthday at this rate.
Both kids graduated from their swimming classes and we immediately signed them up for the next one. James gets to wear goggles now and wore them all over the house to break them in.
He did great in his class too which was the first time he was in the water without Daddy. Ashlyn was a champ in her class and quickly showed she was ready to up her swimming game.
Ashlyn is starting to read. This means that bedtime is taking longer, but it’s all for a good cause. This week a funny moment occurred as she was sounding out the word “but” in the sentence “But the bus was stuck in the mud.” She sounded the word out like you do when you’re learning, “B… u… t… But. Butt?” She grinned and thought it was hilarious even though we told her it wasn’t that kind of but. Oh well, if it helps her enjoy reading then she can think it’s whatever she wants it to be.
The kids insisted we inflate the pool this weekend since it was warm enough to play outside in the water. Ashlyn wanted the slide from the playhouse to fall into the pool and the kids had a fun time splashing down into it. Isla sat and splashed around, happy as she could be.
PePa came over on Sunday for breakfast and afterwards the kids invented various games to play inside the house while it rained. Isla got to play “flying baby” which she always finds to be an enjoyable experience even if the picture doesn’t reflect it.
