Sports, play, and sleep…

"We are such stuff as dreams are made on; and our little life is rounded with a sleep."
-William Shakespeare

Soccer and cheerleading were at the same time this weekend so we had to divide and conquer.  As it turns out, the boys went to see James and the girls went to watch Ashlyn.  Since the camera usually travels with Daddy, we got more pictures of soccer than we did of cheerleading this week.  James is still improving and we’re going to continue working on his running focus (he has Daddy’s coordination and attention span apparently).  He’s having fun though, and that’s enough to keep him going.

Nina, Isla, and Mommy went to go watch Ashlyn cheer but unfortunately they couldn’t sit close enough to see her well.  Ashlyn still had fun and Isla found that she likes using the wagon as a seat.  They went to a birthday party afterwards and cooled off in the water at Parr Park.  Isla was excited to get a pink dolphin as a going away prize.

Mommy made an investment into 42,000 of those little water soluble beads that you see in some plant jars.  Instead of putting them in plant jars though, they ended up filling the bottom part of our bath tub.  Based on how much fun the kids had with them I suppose it wasn’t a bad purchase.  And Mommy insists they are biodegradable and good for the grass, so there’s that.

The kids decided to take a team trip to the local snow cone shack after cheer practice this week.  Isla made a new friend with the youngest member of the team and James was just happy to get a snow cone that turned his tongue blue.

The only reason I’m posting these last two pictures is James doing something unexpected.  Normally all of course kids are fairly shy.  This week, for whatever reason, James decided the mailman was a friend and ran up to get the package personally.  The mailman was a good sport about it.

We’ve all heard of the phrase “work hard, play hard”.  This week Isla and Daddy decided to split those two things up, and it must have worn us both out because we fell asleep during reading time.  Neither one of us were happy about getting woken up.
