Gardens, soccer, and a tired dog…

"I get kind of lonely without my mommy."
-Isla

The weather is improving and the garden is growing.  This means the kids got to pick out their own vegetables to grow.  Ashlyn planted cilantro and lettuce, while James went with lettuce and edamame.  Isla will get her own trip to the nursery this week to pick out her own veggies.

Sadie got spayed this week, poor girl, and the first few days after were rough on her.  The kids like reading with Sadie, so when they were told she couldn’t come upstairs they decided to bring down their books and read next to her instead.  I think Sadie appreciated the company.

It seems like rain has come the day before or day of every soccer practice and game.  This weekend was no exception and they were forced to play inside to keep the field from getting destroyed.  It made for a more exciting game though, it was loud and there were few stops in play since there was no way for the ball to go out of bounds.  James did great and proved again that he is a defensive player.  Where most kids go in a straight line to wherever the ball is, James reads the angles and tries to intercept it.

Isla tried to be helpful this weekend when we were washing the car.  With her help, we were able to wash the car in no less than twice the time it would have normally taken.  Some parts got washed four, maybe five times so at least I know it’s really really clean.
