The last week of a school and a visit to Denver…

"Are we there yet?"
-Every kid, multiple times every hour

This was the last week of school so they spent more time on fun than study.  The main event was a field day for the kids.  They did them by grades so James and Ashlyn had separate events.  Both had a great time getting to run around with their friends.

The week wasn’t all just fun.  The kids were also recognized for their achievements over the year and had the opportunity to stand up in front of the class to say a few words.  This was the first graduation for James and he did well.  He couldn’t help giving Mommy a wave afterwards.

This was Ashlyn’s 3rd time to go through an event like this, and she handled it like an old pro.  She might not have enjoyed getting up in front of the class and speaking, but she powered through it and delivered a moving speech that I’m sure the rest of the kids will remember for years to come.

And then came the last day of school.  Both kids were excited about the upcoming summer.  They were even willing to pause for a picture before heading out in the morning.  Their teachers both said they enjoyed having them for the year, and we’re grateful for the amazing teachers at their school.

Goodbye Meadow Creek, see you next year!

To celebrate the beginning of summer we decided it would be fun to take a family trip somewhere.  We found some seats on a flight to Denver, so bags were packed and away we went.  Our first stop in Denver was a chalk arts festival downtown.  The kids thought it was neat to see all the art and they got to make some of their own.  Their favorite part was the bungee bouncy thing, I have no idea what it’s called.

For dinner we ate at a locally famous restaurant that advertises itself as the most exciting restaurant in the world.  It was large, but not very well lit so we don’t have any good pictures from the inside.  There were a few decent outside pictures though.

We also made a few other stops around Denver, including a two story game store and a candy making factory where the kids got to see workers making candy canes (which they got free samples of).

It was a fun trip, and a great way to start off the summer break.
