Painting, beds, and an embarrassing picture…

"There is no glory in star or blossom till looked upon by a loving eye; There is no fragrance in April breezes till breathed with joy as they wander by."
-William C. Bryant

Painting has never been considered a relatively clean activity by parent standards.  If you wondered why this is, Mom took a series of pictures that prove why children painting is best done outside.  Everything was going fine until James got some paint on his hand.  It went downhill from there.

If you go back and look through this blog you will see multiple picture series of the kids knocking over block towers.  I’m happy to report the kids have figured out how to do this on their own, which is good fun for them while allowing the parents to get things done around the house.

Ashlyn’s new bed is fully assembled and she slept in it for the first time this weekend.  Both the kids are excited about her new room.  I’ll post more pictures once the rest of the bed is completed, we still need to install the curtains and possibly a new lighting system for under the bed.  Preparations for the new baby are slowly coming together.

On a completely unrelated note, the kids thought to the dog needed a bath.  They were right of course, and it was fun for the kids to get splashed by Rusty shaking the water off.  This may seem like a simple thing, but it’s good to see the kids helping out more.  We’re going to need their help when the baby gets here.

Building, moving, and lots of eggs…

"Candy is my fuel. Ice cream, too."
-Jane Smiley

James has learned how to go up the stairs without crawling and we thought it would be a good time to learn how to get back down.  Unfortunately, Ashlyn went into big sister mode and went down the stairs backward to be funny.  This of course is now the only way that James wants to go down the stairs.

We made a lot of progress this weekend on Ashlyn’s new room, in large part to James’ interest and affinity with the various tools littered throughout the room.  Whether it was the rubber mallet (we learned the hard way that it is NOT ok to let him have an actual hammer) or the screw driver, things were built and put in place.

James even helped Ashlyn start moving some of her clothes into the new room.  It’s a good thing James is good with tools, because he is not a very good help with clothes.

We had so many Easter egg hunts with the kids this weekend that it would be impossible to put a story around each one.  Instead of typing, I’ll let the pictures tell the story.  Also, the kids are so hyped up on sugar that by the time we got them to bed I ran out of blog time.  Enjoy!
