"If spring came but once a century instead of once a year, or burst forth with the sound of an earthquake and not in silence, what wonder and expectation there would be in all hearts to behold the miraculous change."
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
You’ve probably seen many goofy pictures of Ashlyn on this blog. Here is proof that she doesn’t have a monopoly on it. Ashlyn has strong a influence on her younger siblings apparently.
Here’s big sis in action playing Mario Kart. James has no idea what’s going on and his expression doesn’t change from picture to picture. Ashlyn on the other hand was all concentration, then excitement, then back to concentration again as she zipped her little go-kart around the track.
Isla achieved a major milestone this week with her first start at crawling. While this is good news because it means she’s becoming more independent, it also means we have to watch the floor even closer. Ashlyn and James are on red alert to not leave any tiny toys laying around because Isla still feels that taste is her primary way to learn about new things.
Way to go Isla. For her part, she’s quite pleased with her accomplishment.
The week of firsts didn’t end with Isla. James went to his first birthday party for another kid in his class. He was a little nervous with all the new people but I hear he had a good time. I was at swimming class with Ashlyn, who has doing well enough that the instructor says she doesn’t need the belt floatie anymore.
James got sick on Sunday. Luckily, he has two sisters ready to help. Ashlyn went upstairs and came back down with a box full of presents. She had taken some of James’ toys and wrapped them herself as a way to cheer him up. She’s a great sister. Isla just sat on the floor and looked cute.
And sometimes, no matter how busy life may be, whether sick or healthy, you just have to take some time to get outside and enjoy what life has given you.
