"BOY, n: A noise with dirt on it."
-Not Your Average Dictionary
James is very much a boy. I remember when Ashlyn was his age, she would cautiously experiment with anything new, including dirt. When James was helping Mom water the garden this week, he proved that he is not quite so hesitant. In a matter of seconds, James found his way to the garden, pulled himself up, and started flinging dirt everywhere. When pulled away and put on the ground, James proceeded to eat the dirt. That’s my boy.
In Walk-Watch™ news, James is still cruising. He stands everywhere he goes, whether that’s at the top of the stairs or when helping move the recycle bin. He even joined Ashlyn for some coloring time, and she did her best to show James how to draw. He attempted to draw like she did, however to avoid our entire house turning the color purple we decided not to take the cap off the marker.
This was a weekend for being outdoors. We started with a ride around the block and even Rusty was allowed to come with us. I wish I could say that Ashlyn stayed with James the whole time like the pictures show below, but she’s a machine on that tricycle and we spent most of the time trying to keep up with her while keeping Rusty near us. The kids still had energy when we got back home, but not the parents.
Once back home, James went around the house digging into everything he could get his hand on. Ashlyn spent 15 minutes dancing in the living room while Mom and Dad clapped on in appreciation. Did I mention they still had energy?
On Sunday we met some friends at a Park/Nature Preserve in Plano for a picnic and and some playground fun. It’s called a Nature Preserve, but we didn’t see much in the way of nature as long as you don’t count dogs as “nature”. That’s ok though, we still got to hang out on a blanket in the park enjoying good weather and good company. Ashlyn had a great time playing around on the swings and slides, and James enjoyed himself as James always does.
If we needed any proof that the park was a good time for the kids, this is it:
And with no connecting pictures or story, Happy Cinco de Mayo everyone!
