Happy Halloween!

"Halloween was confusing. All my life my parents said, ‘Never take candy from strangers.’
And then they dressed me up and said, ‘Go beg for it.’
I didn’t know what to do! I’d knock on people’s doors and go, 'Trick or treat.' 'No thank you.'"
-Rita Rudner

Halloween came again to the Flinn house, this year in the form of Princess Leia and Yoda.  Like we did last year, cousin Heidi came over to join in the trick or treating fun and Grandma Wolfe handed out candy.  Once she arrived, the crew hit the neighborhood.  For James’ first Halloween where he can walk, he did really well.  He mainly followed Ashlyn around, and so there were several houses where he was too slow to get to the door before Ashlyn and Heidi were already coming back.  Not perturbed in the slightest, James turned around and followed along happily to the next house.

And in bubble news, Ashlyn was given a new bubble wand as a birthday gift and we opened it up this weekend to see what it could do.  It was actually very impressive, making bubbles several times larger than her head.  Needless to say, I suspect it will be used often on the porch.

On January 26, 2002, a curly haired, green eyed girl walked in to the apartment I shared with four other guys to go bowling.  A year later, I kneeled under a tree and asked her to marry me.  And ten years ago from this past Friday, she did.  When I first saw her I had no idea how much my life was going to change, but I’m so glad that it did and I can’t wait to see what the next 10 bring.

I love you!
