"Somehow I kept my head above water. I relied on the discipline, character, and strength that I had started to develop as that little girl in her first swimming pool."
-Esther Williams
The week started off well with a visit from Grandma and a delivery of a new dog bed for Rusty. Grandma couldn’t stay long and the kids took over the dog bed while poor Rusty had to watch and wait for them to be done before he could use it.
The kids have been wanting to try camping for awhile now but we couldn’t with all the rains. And thanks to Texas weather we went from rains to steaming heat in a matter of a week and so it was too hot to camp in the backyard. That didn’t stop them from setting up a tent inside the house to play in, which was close to the real thing I’m sure.
We went to a pool party and re-affirmed Isla’s water baby status. That girl just loves the water and spent the afternoon splashing and diving off the edge of the pool. Ashlyn showed off her new swimming skills and even treated water when she accidentally fell into water too deep for her to stand in. James floated after Ashlyn and almost hit everyone in the pool with one of the noodles.
We finished the week with dinner at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Isla was confused at Grandpa’s beard but it didn’t seem to faze Ashlyn and James.
